It’s All Connected

The crazy events that are constantly unfolding in the world are a reflection of where we are on an inner level. Seemingly unrelated events, whether it’s a natural disaster or a war in a faraway country, in a way, are manifestations of our inner states collectively.

The saying ‘you are what you eat’ perhaps explains this phenomenon quite fittingly. Our health is a manifestation of what we put into our bodies. In the same vein, our world is also a reflection of our thoughts as human beings. When the definition of success means more money, we shouldn’t be surprised that a lot of the crises happening today are also of a monetary nature.

Our thoughts and actions can create events that can impact our lives tremendously. In order to truly get to the root cause of the problem, we need to reflect inward and pay attention to our inner world. It all begins with a thought, no matter how small. This little thought is also connected to the end result.

So why is it important to view these events as as connected rather than merely unrelated, one-off, random events? It’s actually about responsibility. Not necessarily in a ‘who is accountable?’ kind of way, but in a more ‘accepting responsibility’ kind of way. The concept of responsibility from a spiritual perspective emphasises on the importance of being responsible, joining the dots of random events and investigating the cause-effect relationships.

Ultimately, it’s about acceptance. Accepting that we are all connected and our actions can have an impact on people on the other side of the world. Unless we begin to view these events as connected, we cannot really resolve issues. If we simply treat events around us as random, irrelevant incidents, we also miss out on the opportunity to develop deep connections.
