The world can be a pretty good place, especially if you are born in a well-off family or country. The script of life is kind of like the beliefs and values we have about the world around us. It is a good script if you have a good life, such as having a good job, a loving partner and adorable kids, etc.
However, sometimes the script can change suddenly. It could be economical uncertainty, political change, environmental change or simply a change of heart from someone you love. Such changes can significantly impact the script. We all wish things could go according to the script, but often they don’t. A good script can become a disastrous one just because of one small factor. Things are unpredictable. I think most people follow a certain idealistic script, knowingly or unknowingly. In fact, most of us share the same script. But what happens if the script becomes unbearable to follow? This is actually where spirituality comes in.
The spiritual path does not offer such scripts. In fact, there’re no scripts. In this particular world, existence has being stripped to its barest form where everything is empty and yet it is also this emptiness that gives us the opportunity to rid of the script we no longer find relatable. In other words, spirituality gives us the opportunity to get rid of the script we no longer want.
