The reason I have started Unworldly Being is because I am a believer in the fundamentals – getting to the bottom of things and finding the truth. I am generally less interested in looking at a problem itself, instead, I tend to look at why a problem has occurred in the first place.
I want to know the ‘why’. I think the fundamental driver for all human behaviours is our mind, such as our values, our desires and our motivations. To go even further, why we think the way we think? When you look at a particular social issue such as corruption, instead of looking at it as a thorny problem, the way I would look at it is, why is it happening? Is there a fundamental factor behind all the possible causes? You can have external measures to curb crime, but humans will always find ways to circumvent and find loopholes.
The best solution probably would be that people simply remain in a state which they are completely content and feel no need to engage in questionable activities. When people feel fulfilled and joyful, there is no need to do anything reckless, let alone anything that’s against the law.
So how do we reach the state of contentment? The answer, in my opinion, is spirituality. Spirituality is such a loaded word that a lot of people probably find it too esoteric and mystical. But rather than focusing on the semantics, spirituality really is about actual results. At the end of the day, we all want something that actually works. So how does spirituality work? Well, at a very basic level, it can give us a sense of calm and peace. This alone is valuable enough in today’s chaotic world we live in. Of course spirituality is also a lot of other things which I will discuss in my blog, so stay tuned.
About Me
My name is Tom. I work in marketing and I have a normal day job just like many people. I care about social issues, our environment and the state of humanity. I am also interested in looking at ways to improve our lives and be happy. I have recently found spirituality and I think it probably is the best solution we have as human beings to live better lives. This is where I share my thoughts and I hope you find something useful here.
