One of the main themes in many spiritual teachings is letting things develop naturally. You don’t have to force it. Often times we may be doing the right things or have the right intentions but we don’t always see the results we want to see. Perhaps we force things too much.
Imagine trying to grow a plant, you put a seed into the soil, you give it water and so on. And then you give it some more attention because you feel you need to do more. You add a bit more water. Now, would the seed actually turn into a plant the next day? Highly unlikely. It will grow when everything is ready. All you need to do is to give it enough water and that’s about it. For the most part, the seed will take care of itself and grow in due time. We simply just need to let it do its own thing. Before you realise, the seed will turn into a plant.
The natural way is often the best way. This is evident if we look at the natural world. Most of the natural wonders are made by nature, without human intervention. Things will naturally come together when all the elements are ripe. As Lao Tzu described, ‘Nature does not hurry, yet everything is accomplished.’
